| Here is a sample
of the wild rumors that are constantly circulated
and magnified regarding the train robbers. This one
comes from Laramie: |

| "A rumor was
circulated Wednesday morning that the train robbers
had doubled their tracks and were again in the
vicinity of Rawlins. It was said that a message had
been received last night from Rawlins to this effect
at the offices here, which also conveyed the
information that a posse had left that place in
pursuit of the bandits. The rumor was denied,
however, at the office of the assistant
superintendent.” |
