Springville, Utah, May 30 – Gov. Heber M. Wells
telegraphed today to James E. Hall, Mayor of
Springville that the identification of the captured
bank robber was complete; that he was Maxwell, and
that the reward of $500 offered by the State of Utah
was ready to be paid and that all the posse were
entitled to their pro rata; but an informal canvass
of the men who were in the posse shows them
unanimously in favor of giving the reward to Joseph
Allen, the man who was wounded in taking the
robbers. A meeting of the posse is called for
tomorrow night, when the proposition will be laid
before them and each member will be given a chance
to take his proportion or give it to Allen, just as
he sees fit. |
