“Bub” Meeks Home

A dispatch from Evanston, Wyo., to the Denver News says.

x

“Bob Meeks, the notorious desperado who was sentenced to serve thirty-five years in the Idaho penitentiary for robbing the Montpelier bank and who escaped from the insane asylum at Blackfoot last August, is at his home near Ft. Bridger this county.

“Lou Meeks, his brother, was in the city a few days ago and made no disguise of his brother’s whereabouts. He says that Bob Meeks sustained a broken shoulder while escaping from the asylum, through a fall from a second story window, and that he rode about 500 miles in spite of the injury. As he has but one leg, the other having been amputated as the result of a wound sustained while trying to escape form the penitentiary, this performance may be considered truly remarkable.

“He is now a total physical wreck, and to reincarcerate him in the asylum when his people are willing to care for him would be inhuman.”
